Official Name of New Bali Marina Unveiled : Bali Gapura Marina

September 2025 – Bali, Indonesia – Indonesia’s first international-standard, full-service marina has officially been named Bali Gapura Marina, a title unveiled during a press conference in Monaco on 23 September 2025, just ahead of the renowned Monaco Yacht Show.
The name Gapura, meaning “gateway” in Balinese, was chosen to symbolize both a physical and cultural passage, a welcome to all who arrive by sea. The name reflects how every yacht and boat is welcomed at Bali Gapura Marina, crossing from water to land as part of a cultural journey. It also reinforces Indonesia’s commitment to placing maritime journeys at the core of national strategic projects, uniting cultural heritage with forward-looking economic priorities.”
According to Joseph Prabantara, co-founder of Marina Development Indonesia (MDI), Gapura captures the spirit of the project: “It’s a name that resonates locally while providing a strong sense of place for international visitors. It’s easy to pronounce, meaningful, and deeply connected to Bali’s identity.”
The Bali Gapura Marina is viewed as a landmark development and a key step in Indonesia’s efforts to establish itself as a premier destination for global superyacht and luxury marine tourism. With its unique geography of over 17,000 islands, Indonesia holds immense potential in the sector but has long been limited by underdeveloped maritime infrastructure. The success of Bali Gapura Marina will serve as a vital test case for unlocking that potential and positioning Indonesia at the heart of the world’s marine leisure map.
